Charity and I attended her book launch event for You Will Get Through This at the Frenchtown Bookshop. We have a lot of feelings after the event!
First, I am so proud of Charity for all of her hard work in this endeavor. Charity, along with her 2 co-authors Dr Julie Radico and Dr. Nicole Helverson created an important resource for navigating the mental health system in the United States. It organizes up-to-date mental health research for lay readers.
We want to thank our community of friends who showed up for the event in so many ways. We are appreciative of you all! It means so much to us to have our friends and community members completely pack the Bookshop during the event. Special thanks to Dr. Lanza for filming the event and taking pictures so that Charity and I could be in the moment. (Aside: Dr. Lanza is a fabulous therapist and trainer for the neurodivergent community.) Thank you to Dr. Autumn Dae and the Paper Ladies book club for assisting with the food setup. Charity’s best friend Charis made the beautiful floral arrangement you see featured in the photos. And the Bookshop staff were consummate hosts.
The book signing was well-attended. Thank you friends for your support!
Just in case you missed the announcement: “You Will Get Through This ” is an incredibly important book. Collectively, most of our understanding of Psychology comes from a class that we take in either high school or college. Some of us didn’t even get that, and more and more people rely on social media for information that often may be inaccurate or even harmful. You Will Get Through This is the 101 orientation to mental health for everyone else. This book allows readers to catch up on new developments in mental health (the author’s goal was to only include research that is less than 10 years old.) The book also provides information about how to access services. Most of all, the authors want all of their readers to know “you are not alone.”
Still not sure if You Will Get Through This is what you are looking for? Dr. Julie Radico reviews a chapter of the book in the following Youtube video.
